IS SHE FOR REAL?

Sorry Sugar Honey Ice Teaer's, but I'm not a Kardashian fan. I do think all the sisters are gorgeous. Since I do not follow their show my friends keep me in the loop about what's going on. From what I hear the most recent developments is Kim is leaving her hubby and he just found out. How sad is that.  Now everyone is wondering, did she marry just for the money and publicity?  I can't say for sure but as an outsider looking in I would say so.  Enjoy.

I LOVE YOUR HAIR

I, myself rock big hair, very big hair. Just when I think it's starting to look bad I get more compliments than when I first get it done.  There is something so natural yet glamorous about big hair. It takes a lot of confidence, pride, and (hair) skills to rock it.  Because I can't get enough of big hair I've added more images on the topic. I found this site called Happy to be Nappy. LOVE IT! They always have the most beautiful photos of (big) hair. If I ever see any of these women passing by I would immediately say, "I love your hair."  Enjoy.

CUSTOM MADE: COOKBOOK

My husband & I love food.  Just like many of you we became obsessed with the food Network for a period of time.  He loved (and still does love) Iron Chief.  Me on the other hand use to watch Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals, now its Paula Deens southern home-style cooking.  Since being married, my husband and I have stepped our game up and tried more recipes.  We take photos of almost every new dish we try (at home and in restaurants).  My mission now, create my own personal cookbook.  I want a book that I can go to when I'm wondering, "What should we make tonight?" I also want to pass it down to my children when they get married.  My first stop will be Michaels craft store to get a nice binder and cool scrapbook paper.  Start your own book.  Take a photo, write the recipe on pretty paper (or type it), place in a binder.  See that was easy.  Enjoy.

TACO SOUP

A friend of mine made this soup.  I LOVED IT.  This soup has meat, corn, tomatoes, cheese, and a lot of other stuff that makes it taste great.  It also has 2 kinds of beans.  I hate beans, but when I walked into her kitchen and smelled the soup I was determined to taste what smelled so good.  My husband and I made the soup recently and it was soooooo gooood.  The recipe is below, but I advise to add your own spices to taste.  This recipe makes 12-18 servings.  I suggest freezing some of it, this way you'll have a ready made meal when you don't have time to cook.  Oh and don't forget the chips.  Enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 4 ounce can diced green chilies
  • 1 1 1/4 ounce taco seasoning packet (any brand will do)
  • 1 1 ounce Hidden Valley Ranch dip packet
  • 2 11 ounce cans corn, undrained
  • 4 14 ounce cans stewed tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 15 ounce can pinto beans, undrained
  • 1 15 ounce can kidney beans, undrained
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • grated monterey jack cheese, and/or cheddar cheese

Directions:

  1. Brown the meat with the onions in an 8-qrt stockpot.
  2. When cooked all the way through, add remaining ingredients and cook over medium heat for 30 minutes.
  3. Eat now if you are not freezing it. Top with grated cheese, sour cream, tortilla chips, etc.
  4. If freezing, let cool completely and pour into freezer bags. First mark the bags with "Taco Soup, Reheat to Serve" and the date.

TRUE BEAUTY-ANNIE LLONZEH

I love this photo of Annie Llonzeh.
She is one of the new angels from the show Charlie's Angles. This photo came from the October issue of InStyle. She is rocking the purple. The big beaded necklace with the copper tone cheeks, and her ringlets gives a natural vibe. But the purple plays so well into the mix making the look modern. Makes me want to try this look.

HOW TO TIE A SCARF

Once again my topic is relates back fall (Sorry, it's my favorite season). This week has been the first true sign that winter is on its way. The crisp cold breeze last night made me dig for all my wonderful scarfs that I have been collecting over the years. I have a few favorite styles for wearing my scarf. First is what I like to call The Turtle Neck (completely wrapped closely or loosely around the neck). Second is The Knot (folded in half then slip the loose inside the loop). Third is The Hang (hang scarf around the back of your neck). But this fall I want to try some new techniques for wearing my favorite winter item. I've scoured the internet to hunt down these techniques and would like to share them with you. Enjoy.
