SO SORRY

I just wanted to say how sorry I am for responding so late to any comments that have been posted on my blog.  I must admit I'm not used to getting comments here so I rarely check the comment section.  A easier way would be for me to have all comments approved by me before posting (I received an email) but I feel that's not fair to you the reader, having to wait for a comment to be posted.  I will make 100% effort to check and reply to each of your comments on a daily basis.

I am so happy to see that my blog and social media pages (Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest) are growing but I have to learn how to take care and manage the both.  So please bear with me.  I'm blessed to have you ladies and gentlemen as fan/followers and I don't want to lose anyone of you.  I hope each and everyone of you have a blessed holiday season.  Merry Christmas!

Much Love & Fashion Fun,

P.S.  Lookout for 2013.  Things will be a little more personable.  I want to share my world with you and I hope you'll share with me as well.

CLASSIC ELEMENTS

I've been on classic pieces for the past few weeks now. Maybe it's the weather. I think classic pieces are the foundation to any wardrobe. For example if you start off with a white shirt you can build upon that. You can layer it with a scarf, add a necklace, or a brooch. You can wear it unbuttoned or with the collar popped. There is so much to do with classic pieces. But sometimes it's nice to keep them simple and let your personality shine through. Ashleigh from The Daileigh pulls this look off perfectly by doing just that. Do you have a classic piece that you love?

Shoe of the Day Look

These Christian Louboutin heels are hot. One look at these and you would automatically think these are for the nights and weekends only. Well they don't have to be. You can wear a color/print blocking heel to the office. Just keep the rest of your pieces simple. Clean lines and classic pieces will make this heel more appropriate at the office. If you're a little more edgier wear the classic pieces in bold colors such as the red pencil skirt. I hope this was informative.

THE GOOD GIRL

I've been feeling all things pink lately.  When I seen this photo of Gabrielle in this pink salmon dress I knew this would be the perfect look for Sunday's Best.  The best part... this whole look cost less than $140.  Just goes to show you can look like a celeb without spending big bucks.

SHOE TRENDS

Your shoes can make or break your outfit this holiday season.  Choose wisely.  Jeana Ouattara has been a blessing. She put together a fabulous list of the top ten shoes for the holiday season.  Each style listed below can step up your look a notch.  If you can't figure out what to wear just pick your favorite black top, your favorite black bottoms, and add a pair of cute shoes.  Let the shoe be the main focal point of your look.

FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT

I've always loved natural looking hair, real or fake, especially if its big.  Right now I'm rocking a wash & go look in brown and blonde hues.  I LOVE IT!  But enough about my hair.  The natural hair craze has boomed this past year with thanks to celebrities like Brandy and Kelly rocking big natural hair styles on the red carpet.  Bloggers and vloggers have taken noticed too and have given their expertise to styling, caring for, and managing natural hair.

We've all heard of the the big chop (cutting off any relaxed/permed hair and letting your true texture grown in).  But what if you simply can not function in your daily life with your hair looking the way it does?  Well I found something awesome.  I came across this site called Finger Comber that sales natural looking hair.  I'm talking hair that looks like natural 4b/4c hair, beautiful kinky hair.  I've used the Rastafarian dreadlock hair to create kinky locks but that hair only comes in bundles.  Finger Comber hair comes in bundles and in wefts.  I've never seen kinky hair you can weave.

Finger Comber's hair comes in several shades.  The site even provide tutorials on how to use the wefts or bundles and how to style the hair.  This is great for naturals who can't fully transition into the natural style.  It's also great for those naturals who want their hair to look fuller.  I say fake it till you make it.  I'm so happy to come across this site.  I look forward to trying out this hair.  I'll give a review once I purchase one of the styles and let you know how it turns out.  Have any of you tried this brand or a similar brand of kinky hair bundles/wefts?  Let me know.

MIXING IT WELL

I wasn't to much of a fan of the head to toe denim look this past summer.  But then I just seen this photo of a denim shirt with a fancy gold skirt.  Hum..., I can rock this. This gives me new purpose to purchase a denim shirt now.  But for those of you who already have one you can give new life to your shirt.  Just mix it with a fancy skirt.  This is mixing causal and fancy together and getting it right. All pieces shown here are under $44. Enjoy!

STYLE WATCH

You've asked and wanted to know where this skirt came from.  I've been trying to hunt down this beautiful button midi skirt all night.  I've looked everywhere and came up short.  Here are some alternatives.  I will continue to look for this style and inform you all where you can get it.  Hopefully this will help.

DIY-MAKING WHATS OLD NEW AGAIN

I seen this blog and wanted to share with you the wonderful idea this blogger came up with.  She taken wedges and push pins to replicate a designer look.  All you do is take push pins (can be found at your local dollar store) and push them into your corkscrew wedges.  How cool and inexpensive is this idea!  You can take this look a step further and use color push pin or paint silver/gold pins to the color you want.  I have a pair of wedges from last summer that are a little worn down.  Now I can revamp them and wear with tights this fall/winter.  You can find the full tutorial here.  Have you done a cool DIY project recently?

MARVELOUS MONDAYS

Happy Monday!
Why are Mondays so hard?  I hate dressing up on Mondays sometimes.  I wake up late therefore I'm rushing to pull myself together.  Because of this I opt out and wear jeans, flats, and a tee.  Hopefully your Monday mornings are not like mine.  But if they are here is an easy solution. Wear a dress.  Wearing a dress is takes all the guess work out of getting dressed.  It's simple and you'll always look pulled together.  Just add black pumps and a statement necklace, cuff, or earrings and your good to go.

SHARING IS CARING

I'm still in the developing stages of my site/blog.  Sometimes I want to share personal stuff but still haven't gotten past the point of letting others in like that.  I'm working on this though because I have a lot I want to share with you.  But in the mean time I'll share with you beautiful images of fashion, art, food, etc.  My dream job would be an editor of my own magazine.  There's so many aspects to that job.  I love sharing ideas and images with you, my readers.  With that being said lets share.  Share something about yourself, your style, your beauty regime, your fav recipe.  Share your blog/site with me and the readers here.  Share my site with other women.  Don't be shy, I'm stepping out my comfort zone, you can too.  Sharing is caring.

LETS MAKE UP

I've been trying out lipstick and lip pencils more recently.  I've always been a lip gloss girl, now woman.  But Nicki, Riri, and Solange have all inspired me to rock a hot pink lip.  The only problem, gloss doesn't do the job.  So I've been experimenting with different lipsticks and lip pencils.  I've found a few that are worth it, but I hate re-applying it.  So I was happy to have found Rachel's blog about how to apply lipstick that will stay put.  I'm trying this first thing in the morning.  Check out her blog post to get further details.  Do you have makeup tips that you swear by?  If so let me know you secret.

TIME TO MOVE ON

I've been wanting to step my style game up. I'm getting older, gracefully and want my image to portray that. But part of me is still a little hesitant to leave what I known for years behind. I love putting un-expecting stuff together and trying out new trends. But I guess when you start to get older you develop your sense of style. I know what my sense of style is but I feel I will look crazy if I wear my style day in and day out, then one day I wear Converse sneakers with a skirt. Will others think I'm crazy. But the time is approaching for me to do a once over on my wardrobe and make the switch. Are you hanging on to your old style knowing that it needs to develop and evolve? Let me know.

DATE NIGHT-KISS

I heard this phrase recently and it reminded me that sometimes we put so much energy into our looks but lack the energy to build up who we are and aspire to be. This date night look is simple. Just pull out your LBD (or black tank and skirt) and acceossorize with your favorite color. Mine at the moment is hot pink. So for date night I will wear hot pink pumps with my hot pink clutch and hot pink lips, KISS.

HAIR HOTTIE (NATURAL STYLE)

This is my first ever interview for The Sugar Honey Ice Tea.  So excited!
I met Grace at a church play last month.  Her twist are beautiful and the color really looked lovely on her.  She's of Nigerian/African-American descent with three sisters and two older brothers. Grace is currently pursuing a degree in biochemistry with aspirations of becoming an ob/gyn.  Here is her interview to better understand her style.

Much Love & Fashion Fun,

Tea Todd

1. Why did you choose your current style & the color?
I chose to do kinky twists because I absolutely love to style them. They last a pretty long time, I can style them differently nearly every week if I wanted and they tend to look their best when they’re old. I love twists so much that I’ve had nearly every color in my head. I tend to like highlights, so looking at the selection available in the shop I buy my hair from, I chose a 1B and a burgundy color.

2. What brand of hair do you use?
I typically use Bobby Boss Synthetic Afro Kinky twisting hair. I’ve also used Booby Boss Synthetic Jamaica Braid hair as well. It just all depends on the color I’m looking to put in and what’s available in the Beauty Shop I purchase my hair at.

3. What products do you use to keep your hair looking hot?
I don’t like to use too many products on my hair, since it will typically cause my hair to get oily. I just simply spray a little oil sheen and maybe use some Edge Control to maintain my front edges.

4. How long have you had this style?
I had this particular style for about 3 months. I love getting kinky twists because the style, if properly maintained, can last and still look good for a good amount of time.

5. Who is your (hair) style icon?
I actually don’t have a hair icon in particular. My sister who’s a hairstylist tends to suggest and inspire styles she feels would suit me best. I also love to draw some of my hair ideas from Sophisticate’s Black Hair Magazine, while adding in my own personal twists and spins, from time to time.

PUT ON YOUR HAPPY FACE

One more day until the work week is over. Oh how I love this closet. Wouldn't you love to wake up to this every morning getting dressed for work?   This look is dressy for the office but yet causal because of the muted colors.

9-5

Happy Monday! It's the start of the work week again. Maybe you're one of the few lucky people in Vegas this week attending Magic. But even if you're not you can still have a fabulous week. I put together this look to kick off Monday. This look is great for the office or for an interview. I love the mustard and brown colors in this look. It's still a little warm for the jacket but I can't wait to replicate this look for work this fall. Have a wonderful and bless week.

STAY TRUE TO YOUR (HAIR) STYLE

I must say I love hair magazines.  They give me all the latest styles of what's hot in the world of hair.  Every month I pick up Hype Hair or Black Sophisticated and fall in love with many styles.  This past weekend my sister and I went hair shopping and I decided to try on short wigs, really short wigs.  On the head the style looked fierce.  Would it look that way on me?  Once I put the wig on I realized, "NO!  This is not for me!"

Ladies, just like with our clothing, we must not be trendy with our hair.  We must know when to rock something because it looks great on us, not because everyone else is wearing it.  I sometimes get board with my (hair) style but in the end I always come back to my big, big hair.  This is what suits me.  It works great with my facial features and my persona.  I've been wanting that RiRi look (short on one side but shorter on the other side), but realized (before it was too late) that this style is not me.

This summer ombre hair and brightly colored hair was the trend.  Now is the time to wear that bubble gum pink wig and people may not look twice at me.  Um, I think not.  I know people who can pull these trends off but I'm not one, I'll just look ridiculous.  This past year I have experimented with many different (big) hair styles.  Some were great and some were just ok.  But at this moment I back at my tried and true (hair) style, I love it.  Have you ever experienced a bad hair style, whether it was your hair, weave, or wig?

DIY: ROCK GODDESS STRAP

It's Friday and I'm in the mood for a project.  I came across this simple, cheap, and very easy idea from "P.S. I Made This".  She turns a guitar strap into a rock goddess purse strap.  I know I have an old belt (yes I'm going to try it out on a belt) laying around and a simple clutch.  If not these items can be purchased for less than $10 each (try Target, Forever 21, Goowill, etc).  I'm going to head to Michael's to pick up some beads and babbles of my liking.  Can't wait for the results.  I'll follow up with you guys and letting you know how it turns out.

FOR THE LOVE OF STRIPES

Every time I go shopping I find myself gravitating towards a piece of clothing that is striped.  I don't know why, but I own about 10 stripe shirts.  I love navy & white stripes or a heather gray stripe with a neutral color.  Stripes are classic yet they are trendy.  When I came across Rejina Tyson's blog, "You Like It?  I Made It!" I fell in love with her head to toe stripe outfit.  It might be too much for some but she pulls it off well.  The wide brim hat calls for attention with its large black and white stripes.  But then your eyes focuses on the coral and white stripe shirt with a large scoop on the back neck.  And finally you noticed that cute skirt with the ruffle, and it is a stripe.  Love it!  She played well with the proportions and the colors of the stripes.  Would you wear head to toe stripe in different colors?  What's your opinion on this look?

THE NEW CHIC

I have a wedding reception coming up soon. So of course that means a dress, shoes, accessories, hair, and make-up will be needed. I love this dress by Wallis. It's simple but the slight details makes it modern and the color makes it right on trend. I'm not too big on color blocking for myself but I love having accessories (clutch & shoes) match in a complete opposite color. Since everything is so bright I'll tone it down with the gold cuff and keep make-up in neutral colors. What do you think? Is this a little too bold for a wedding reception or on point?
