A LITTLE TOO GROWN

Do you feel you've outgrown your favorite clothing store?  I'm talking about stores like Forever 21, Windsor, even H&M.  I've loved these stores with a passion, I even worked for one for a while.  But now that I'm older I find not only has my hips outgrown most of the bottoms but my taste and need for quality has outgrown these stores too.

Being a UC grad & a FIDM grad means I have a lot of "good" debt that still needs to be paid off.  With that being said there isn't that much money left at the end of paychecks to buy expensive clothes.  So I have to make do.  But now that I'm older I'm finding my style and taste is evolving.  The issue I'm having is my bank account only allows for these types of stores at the moment.  But my style is evolving to Banana Republic and Victoria Secret prices.  Don't get me wrong I'll spend a little more money on a good pair of jeans or shoes but when it comes to a tee shirt my heart wont allow me to spend more than $10.

Another reason I've outgrown these stores is because the fit and quality is not good (to me anymore).  The fit is not for a woman.  It's only for a 16 year girl or a woman with a 16 year old body.  The moment I started getting my hips and developing more in my boobs I couldn't wear about 80% of the clothing.  The 20% of clothes I can wear is not made well and the fabric quality is not good.  It kind of sucks because while I like the fashions these stores offer they don't aim for my age group/body shape.  I feel like other discount retailers such as Ross or Marshells does a better job but it's such a hassle sometimes having to search through the racks to find what you're looking for.

Am I the only one who feels this way?  Do you feel you've outgrown your favorite store?  Are you stuck at these stores for various reasons?  Tell me your thoughts.

DIY SPA TREATMENT-BROWN SUGAR SCRUB

Brown sugar body scrub.
Use 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup raw oatmeal, and 1 cup olive oil.

Mix everything together.  Because I'm using real brown sugar I like to apply this mixture directly in the tub for easy clean up.  Apply the mixture to any area you want your skin to fell soft such as elbows, knees, feet, legs, etc.  Don't put too much pressure when apply, the brown sugar will exfoliate your skin.  Now rinse off in the shower or in a warm bath.  Apply your moisture of choice for smooth, touchable skin.  Let me know if you like this DIY spa treatment.

Enjoy!

Keep it simple with a white tee and a long skirt in a bright vibrant color.  Keep the rest of
your accessories simple in neutral colors.  Let the skirt be the focal point.

Enjoy the heat and be cool in a navy tank and white shorts.  Dress up this casual look with
gold and brown pieces.  It will take your look on level up.

Looking for something a little more dressier?  Show your pride in a stripe skirt.  Punch up
the look with a viberant unexpected color.

CENTS VS DOLLARS

Sometimes it's best to buy on the higher end for clothing items.  It's all about quality verse quantity.  You should only buy what your budget will allow you to buy, no using credit cards if you can't pay it off before accruing the interest.  Quality items that should be bought are jackets, handbags, shoes, and any other item that you practically live in.  For instance if you work in an office and must dress business causal you might want to invest in the basics such as dresses, shoes, blazers, shirts, and a handbag.  You can buy less inexpensive accessories to update the basics.  Never spend top dollar (of what you can afford) on trendy pieces.  Take for instances these sheer wide leg pants.  Yes I love them, they are cute.  But I will not pay more than $30-$40 for them.  1). They are trendy.  2). They will not carry over to fall/winter.  3). It isn't a style I hold dear to my heart.  So if you see something that you absolutely love and feel like you need buy a less expensive version of it first because most likely you will realize 1). you don't love it and/or 2). it will be on the clearance rack by mid season.  Is there a trend you have to have at the moment?  Tell me about it.

I LOVE RETRO

Retro swimwear is hot this summer. The itsy-bitsy-2 pc bikini is still hot but trend setters are a little more covered this summer on the beach and at the pool. The bottom covers more of the derriere and the stomach, kind of a relief for those of us that don't have supermodel abs. I like this retro style because more women can wear a two pc or one pc and feel confident that everyone isn't staring at their muffin top. This style of suit shows off a woman's curves in a good way. Would you wear this style? Which is your favorite, the one piece or the two piece?

BLACK & NUDE

I really like this look.  It can go from work to dinner to out with the hubby, all in one day.  Most of the pieces you probably already have, like the black blazer, black skinnies, and nude pumps.  To turn this look around just add a neon clutch and a neon tank.  How do you switch up your basic black and nude pieces?

BAD HAIR DAYS

How many times have you woke up late and realized you don’t have any time to do your hair?  Or maybe you’re going shopping with your friends but your hair doesn’t want to cooperate with you?  We’ve all been there.  Don’t feel the only option is a ponytail.  Prepare yourself for moments like these.  Here is one idea that will have you walking out the house in style.  A turban.  They are all the rage this season.  I love wearing this style even when it's not in the pages of Vogue.
